Tom Ogden is a builder of people and teams, a management professional focused on building a stronger, more performant business from within. Anybody can hire a bunch of bodies. But few know how to identify the best, most performant team members, aka "impact players". And once they're hired, who can inspire and motivate your team to perform and to great things? That's what Tom does best.

Tom has worked in different aspects of the software industry for 37 years, including running his own business for 15 years and working for the Federal Government for 13 years, including the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Dept. of Defense and the White House.

Tom has a strong sense of community, both within an organization and without, affiliating with multiple professional and philanthropic organizations. He sees openness and inclusion as the overriding ingredients to success in a group or a project.

Tom was born and raised in northeast Montana, where he lived with Native Americans on the reservation, learned to hunt for food and hike for 50 miles at a stretch. He family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, where he attended high school in a predominantly hispanic community. Tom attended college at Brigham Young University (BYU), in Provo, Utah, where he was immediately drawn into the software industry, working for Novell, RR Donnelley and WordPerfect. He afterward moved to Seattle and soon started his own business in web application development, which he continued until 2011, taking his first government position with the U.S. Department of State in Washington, DC. 

 

Tom and his family live in Falls Church City proper, a small independent city within northern Virginia and inside the DC beltway. He enjoys long hikes, camping, weaving tartan, family history, and, most of all, spending time with his family.
